RiP!: A Remix Manifesto
I really enjoyed watching this publicly made documentary and by the end of the film, it made me reflect on copy right laws that are enforced in America. I believe it is a safe assumption that individuals want to protect and patent their ideas and America's social society is becoming more individualistic. Our ideas are hidden kept secrets. We are a possessive society, always looking for wealth.
What if we became more like Brazil that we saw in the film? Would this be beneficial or would it hurt our country? In the film, someone said along the lines of ideas are not original but only based of ideas from the past. I believe if we opened up our minds and used our ideas in concordance with each other, we would have a free exchange of ideas. Our country will flourish in ways we could not imagine. Cures for diseases will finally be brought to the surface after years and years of keeping their knowledge a secret.
Maybe our entertainment in America is designed and structured exactly the way the big companies that run this business want it to be. These companies don't condone innovation, rather they want to keep the same ideas and rework and tweak old and overdue concepts. They have laws to protect their success and at the same time keep new innovators out.
